Design With A Cause In Mind

Behind the scenes, the NYC Fall design event season is gearing up.
The must attend function will be the
38th Annual Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Decorator Show House
taking place at 106 East 71st Street, a six-story, 17 room Limestone townhouse overlooking Park Avenue.
Running from October 14th to November 11th, the event raises over $1 million annually for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, a non-profit organization that provides after-school and enrichment programs for over 13,000 youths between the ages of 6 and 18 from ten locations in the Bronx.
Some of my favorite designers will be showing their talents;
Jayne and Joan Michaels of 2 Michaels Design, Jennifer Post, Robert Couturier, and Katie Ridder among others.
As a co-chair of the Volunteer Committee for the Show House, I highly recommend showing your support by volunteering as a Show House docent.

The above photographs show the second floor landing by Interior Designer Christopher Corcoran from the 2009 Kips Bay Show House. Christopher revitalized an often-underappreciated space into an area of style and elegance. Having been in the house many days last year, I would often find a reason to walk by and take in the uncompromising details and objects.
